Your body – the key to being human

Without a body, we cannot be humans. And that is why it deserves all the care we can give it.

Religions deny the body, claiming that it must be sacrificed in the name of the eternal soul. They define it as a prison—i.e., an enemy of the soul and something that limits and hinders us.

However, many other philosophies deny the existence of the soul, and yet their attitude towards the body is not much better. In Western civilizations, it is normal for people to eat junk food, abuse their bodies with harmful substances, and ingest all kinds of poisons on a daily basis.

The body has become a means of attracting attention and gaining personal benefit by selling it in one way or another. More and more people are undergoing numerous corrections to fit some social ideal of beauty, but in the meantime erasing their individuality.

In fact, the body is the only way we can be human.

The soul does not need a body to exist. And yet it has chosen to have one. This should lead us to some conclusions about its role and importance. The soul is omnipotent and eternal, but this has become a limitation for it. That is why it has chosen to have a body that is vulnerable and temporary, and to explore the universe through it.

In order to be born, to have a life and to experience all the good things in it, we need a body. And if that is not a good enough argument to confirm the sacredness of the body, then I don’t know what could be.

Our body is a temple. And that is why we must be careful about what we allow into it—the air we breathe, the food we eat, the liquids we drink, the cosmetic products we use, and even the people we allow to touch us. Nothing that is not worthy of entering a temple has a place in your body.

Having eyes is an absolute. With them, you can see all the beauty that surrounds you and voraciously absorb the light of the world.

Having ears is magic. The most delicate messages that shake us to our core reach us through our hearing.

Having lips, a tongue, and a palate is a blessing. With them, you can tell the world who you are. And you can also taste both the sweet and bitter flavors of this world.

Having hands is a celebration. Being able to caress a flower, an animal, or a loved one is one of the happiest experiences you will ever have.

Having legs is power. They can take you anywhere, to your goals and dreams, and you decide how far you will go.

Having a heart is love. And if you listen to it beat just once, you will understand.

And that’s just the beginning. You also have a forehead, nose, cheeks, lungs, kidneys, muscles, tendons, and many, many other things. And all of them are more beautiful than the next.

Pay attention to your body. See how perfect it is.

Feel the air entering you, your skin tingling, your muscles tensing. Count the nuances in your eyes. Run your fingers over your eyebrows. Learn your palm by heart. This is an endless adventure in which you are the main character, and the fairy-tale land is your own body.
