Can anyone tell me which idiot came up with this well-known idea that love makes you weak?

Let’s take the following example: You tell somebody that you love them, but they don’t return your feelings. From now on you are supposed not only to be sad and depressed but you must feel humiliated and ashamed. You have to regret that you have admitted what you feel. And every time when you meet them you have to be in an inferior position.

But let’s (out of basic respect for love) see what’s happening in reality. You tell another human being that you love them. First, you are in love and nothing else matters. Neither the response nor the consequences from it could affect your happiness. Second, you have shown courage and that puts you on the top of the world. Third, this is love and the Universe thrives. Because each of its fibers exists only for love.

The problem stems mainly from the fact that everyone thinks they can love. When people use the word “love” for their vaguest semblances of feelings, major misunderstandings inevitably arise. For the general public, the phrase “I love you” translates to “I will crawl at your feet,” regardless of whether you are the one saying it or the one hearing it. But those who truly love are aware of how things really are. “I love you” is much closer in meaning to “You deserve to be destroyed.”

Another popular opinion is that love makes you weak because it makes you take wrong decisions and destroy your life. I cannot understand how a life in which you have reached the top in your career and have created a family with a comfortable person, but in which you have never risked for true love is not a failure. An action which is not provoked by love is wrong. If it goes against love it is an action of a coward.

Feeling love not only doesn’t make you weak but it makes you stronger than ever. When you love another human being, nothing in the world can stop you from doing anything for this love. Then you overcome the protests of those around you. Then you overcome fear. And most importantly, then you overcome yourself.

Every true love will demolish you to the bottom and will leave you trembling, doubting yourself. True love will leave you nothing until you realize that it is everything. It will not hand you anything for free, but it will be your only chance to reach the absolute. Saying “I love you” means that you are ready to live this love. This is the biggest strength you can achieve in your life.
