Thor Ragnarok is another Marvel film in which the propaganda went too far. We expected to see a movie about Tor and about the end of one world but instead, we received a cheap comedy about the Hulk.

First, I will take a look at the thing which did not belong in the film.

The humor. Asgard faces its apocalypse, demons reach their full power, each god must prove that he is worthy of living, a whole era is coming to an end… and in the meantime, Thor is making jokes. Kill by laughter – this is the eternal strategy for destroying values and it works in every situation. The superficial humor does not belong in the supreme battle of life and death which will be decisive for the world’s future.

The Hulk. What was the Hulk doing in the movie is a high-difficulty question but why did he have more screen time than the main characters is an unsolvable mystery. While his world is dying, Thor dedicates himself to his friendship with Banner? I don’t think so. But after the creators of the movie lost about an hour of our time with the Hulk on Sakaar, they were impudent enough to transfer him to Asgard. Believe me, a big green monster is definitely not present at Ragnarok. If you show me the rune which means “Hulk” in the ancient Scandinavian writings, you can prove me wrong but I doubt that you will find it.

Sakaar. While the mighty Asgard is dying, we spend our time on a garbage planet. Of course. Thor was showing his muscles and renewed friendships, while Loki made new ones and drank cocktails. For about an hour, we had to deal with the pointless battle between Thor and the Hulk, the repulsiveness of a nobody, and the boring schemes of a slave master… I will repeat, on the planet of garbage. Apparently, Asgard deserved less time than it.

Skurge. We saw another version of the “I was a worm my whole life but at the end, I sacrificed myself for the collective” motif. This plot is always horrible but here it was presented in an unusually talentless way. Dying as a “hero” is the easiest thing to do given the social standards. The only thing that matters is whether you can live as a hero.

And now, let’s make a list of the things which were humiliated.

The Scandinavian culture. If those plots and jokes were used in a random action movie, there wouldn’t have been a problem because they wouldn’t ruin anything. But here they are used against one of the most important civilizations on Earth which was proud of its power and which fought for progress. The choice is not surprising, of course, because each piece of evidence for the dignity of the human race must be destroyed. Thor Ragnarok is just another example of the rewriting of history so that pride and greatness can be erased and replaced with shallowness and inferiority.

The goddess of death. Was that all Hela was? “I throw swords and have an army of dead men.” This does not make her the strongest and most dangerous deity in the world. Allegedly, Hela had enormous power but she lacked something else: character. Her whole persona was based on the premise that she is evil. She has no motives for her actions or any quality which distinguishes her from any other super-villain. Also, killing a few hundred peaceful citizens of Asgard was a supreme challenge for her and she did not have time at all to think about conquering the whole universe. The deities of death surely have individualities and self-respect.

Surtur. He was another mythical villain who was not able to find a better way to spend his time than to listen to Thor’s jokes. The creature which was mighty enough to destroy Asgard had lost the respect of the viewers in the first scene.

The valkyries. The valkyries are mighty creatures, superior warriors and a symbol of femininity and purity. And here, we had a tomboy alcoholic who had renounced her world and had devoted herself to her own decomposition. And besides, here the racial tolerance went out of control because the valkyries are not black. You can ask Odin about it. It was absurd that she was among the main warriors for Asgard’s salvation, it deserves better.

Asgard. The home of the gods, the most powerful and sacred place, was populated predominantly with trembling useless people whose only concern was where to hide from Hela. Similarly to all Marvel movies, here the normal people were helpless weaklings who would die at the first challenge which happens to them if the superhero does not interfere. At least, Asgard received a much more worthy end than the Earth in any apocalypse movie.

Ragnarok. When Asgard was falling down, we finally saw a scene of total mightiness and a right ending. And at precisely this moment, an ugly brainless alien made a joke?!!! What kind of impudence is to let it talk while a great world faces its fate? What kind of a stain on history was the fact that it made a comment on what was happening? This creature, just like many others, was not worthy at all to witness this picture. And the fact that everyone who was part of the creation of the movie agreed on shooting this scene is more than worrying. When the perfection collapses under its own weight, the living one can only stay quiet. At the end, Thor sat at his futurist little throne and led his people to their tomorrow. It is very unlikely that their future will bring anything different than mediocrity and degradation.
