The world is home, not an enemy

People are constantly afraid of the world. They see it as a dangerous place which will kill them. But actually it is their home and for now, the only place where their life is possible.

There are two types of fear: of the wilderness and of civilization. In the wilderness, you can be attacked by an animal. You can be buried by a snow slide. You can drown at sea. In the city, you can be hit by a car. You can get mugged and raped. You can become a victim of a terror attack. Do you think that it is normal to live in constant fear of your own world?

The world is not hostile to people and does not aim to hurt us. It loves us and gives us everything so that we can be free and grow.

The wilderness is a natural habitat for the human. They are one. It is hostile and cruel only to those who cannot cherish it and who do not trust it. But it gives absolutely everything to those who know how to ask for it. Yes, its power can kill. But this power is an expression of its magnificence. It will never kill anyone in a wrong way. For example, there are only two types of people who can die in a wildfire: those who fear fire and those who love it enough to embrace it.

Civilization is the aspect of the world which was built by our species. And although it really is dangerous because our enemies use it as a weapon, we must decide whether we will let them have it or we will take it for ourselves. The answer is that we will take it. And after we already know that this is our civilization in our world, we must conclude that we cannot afford to be frightened from it. Again, it suggests risks because of its power. But the human was born to survive in difficult conditions.

Our world is not a boring calmness. It is dynamic, changing, challenging. And that is what makes it perfect. Who would prefer the boredom of Heaven or of Nirvana when one could have the questions of the earthly life?

It is not normal to be afraid to go out when it’s dark. To travel alone or to visit a foreign country. Nor to climb a mountain alone or to swim in deep waters. If there is a real danger, then yes, one should be careful. For example if at this particular moment the streets are filled with raging mobs or if there is a rip current. But you cannot be afraid in general every day.

This world belongs to us and we belong to it. It gives us the water we drink to survive and the resources we need to build a shelter. It gives us rain so that we can feel beauty on our faces and wind so that we can acknowledge the movement of life. And this is not all. Almost everything we have ever seen, had, experienced, or loved is a part of this world. It is home.

You are not frightened in your own house, right? (Not that this won’t happen soon.) But why don’t you understand that you own more than 80 square meters in an apartment building? The whole world is naturally yours and awaits giving you everything and receiving everything you can give it.

Yes, there are dangers out there. Of nature, of civilization, of people. And despite that, we cannot spend our lives as squirming rats hidden it the darkest holes. We can choose dignity over fear.

I openly say: I am not afraid. This is my world. It shaped my will and my dreams, it puts the next step in front of my feet. It has the power to create tears in my eyes, it transforms the pulse of my heart into calamity. I create and change the world. My thoughts expand it. My actions give future to it. My words are its breath. It is my home and I am strong in it. And if out there, there is something that wants to kill me, I will welcome it with my head held high and will face it in a dignified battle. This is my world. It loves me. I love it. And I am taking it for myself.
